Adventureland

Disneyland's Adventureland was originally envisioned as True-Life Adventureland, and was to be based on Walt Disney's award-winning nature documentaries on Africa and Asia. The land was originally supposed to have real animals from Africa to inhabit a jungle river, but after zoologists told Walt Disney the real animals would lie around or hide, the Imagineers built mechanical animals instead.

Formerly known as the Jungle River Cruise, Jungle Cruise was the only ride on opening day Adventureland. The ride is supposed to invoke being on a riverboat crusie in primarily Asia and Africa run by the Jungle Navigation Company. One of the most enjoyable parts of the ride is a cast member acting as your Skipper that proceeds to tell mainly "Dad Joke's" and the infamous "Backside of Water" joke you will hear on every ride through.

More offerings

While on opening day Adventureland may not have had that many things to offer, today the land hosts three more attractions and entertainment. Among those are the famous Walt Disney's Enchanted Tiki Room and the thrilling Indiana Jones Adventure. While This land may not host as many attractions as Fantasyland it is incredibly immersive, transporting you to what feels like a 1930s adventure in a jungle somewhere in Asia or Africa.
