Hello! I'm Laura, and I'm on a journey to deepen my web development understanding. I'm a Santa Rosa native with an engineering degree, now working in Communications. My current role involves web work, and I've also enjoyed building sites for family businesses. I'm taking this course to solidify my fundamentals and tackle the fascinating challenge of creating seamless experiences across mobile and desktop platforms."

This project really assited in my development of of html and csss features. The html side was something that I was already somewhat familiar with, but the CSS side was totally new to me. I enjoyed learning about the different properties, however the past couple weeks with CSS addition was probably the most difficult for me. It really got me thinking about what the layout of my site would be with the different style aspects. Also, it probably caused the most frustration with moments of not knowing why a certain property was not showing up on my site.

In doing research for this site, I learned a fair number of new facts about the octopus. I knew that they changed color, but their ability to change color and texture for camouflage is mind-blowing. They achieve this through specialized cells called chromatophores. Also, I love the fun fact that they can do this all while color blind! Something totally new that I learned is octopuses have three hearts and blue blood. This is due to their copper-based blood, which is more efficient in cold, low-oxygen environments.
