What is Camp Revolution?
Camp Revolution is a 3 - 5 night residential summer camp. We provide a safe place for campers to experience the beautiful outdoors , increase independence and self-confidence, positive role-modeling exemplified by camp leaders, opportunity to participate in fun activities and exercise, and build meaningful relationships through sports, arts, and team-building. We ensure campers medical conditions and medications are supported by a medical professional and dietary considerations are met.
How was Camp Revolution Founded?
The Schalich family had a vision and direction to create a camp in Sonoma County after having to take their son with Tuberous Sclerosis and seizure disorders to a camp 3 hours away.
"Imagine you are the parent of a young adult with intellectual disabilities and seizures. Your child’s family and friends participate in many overnight social events, but your son can’t, due to his special needs and medication regiment. You find a summer camp for him to attend, but it is three hours away, which makes you very uncomfortable leaving him, knowing you are not nearby.
This is the situation I found myself in and know many other parents/caregivers of special needs young adults who are in the same situation. Five years ago, I was motivated to conceive a local experience for my son and many others who live with autism, Down syndrome, intellectual disabilities and all types of developmental disabilities, here in Sonoma County by creating Camp Revolution."
