Japan’s Geography

Japan is located in eastern Asia. Japan is bordered by the Sea of Japan. Japan is one of the most geographically unstable areas in the world. Japan deals with many earthquakes, most of them are not major. Japan also has many volcanoes, for example Mount Fuji and the Showa Volcano. Japan also has many mountain ranges, for example the Japanese Alps, Kitakami Mountains, and the Ou Range. Japan is filled with many rivers like the Shinano River, the Tone River, and the Ishikari River. Japan is separated into four major islands Honshu, Kyushu, Hokkaido, and Shikoku.

Okinawa

Okinawa is an important island separated from the mainland located south of Japan. The population of Japan is about 1.4 million people. Okinawa was an independent kingdom before the Meiji Period. The island was influenced by both Japan and China. Okinawa is overall a very busy tourist spot.
