Hi, my name is Rebecca Trebe and I'm from Santa Rosa, CA. Currently, I am in my first year, second semester at Santa Rosa Junior College. I am taking this course because I feel like website development is a valuable skill in today’s world. I have a small business idea but realized there is a lot I need to learn regarding the bare minimum of starting a business. Knowing how to develop a website was one of the things I found to be important in running a business. I also feel that this skill would be beneficial in so many other ways! Something that fascinates me about website development is how a good website makes a more prominent impact on the viewer seeing it. I want to have the ability to create a well-crafted website. I would also like to know what to look for when viewing other websites and appreciate the work going into them.
While making this website about American Black Bears there were many things I found challenging. But what I found to be the most challenging was creating the CSS pages. Figuring out how to add characteristics to my pages, such as fonts, colors, placement, etc. I thought the personalization part was going to be my favorite part, but it ended up being extremely challenging for me. I got confused about the code I needed, and how to apply it to the part of the website I wanted it to go on.
What I found most surprising is that what I thought was going to be more complicated on the website ended up being my favorite part. That is when we just made the pages and incorporated the images, videos, and audio. It was also surprising when my website came together. I wasn't too sure about how the colors would work together, but I ended up loving them. It was so satisfying to see my project come together, and appreciate all the work that went into it. I also found it surprising when I started remembering code and was able to incorporate it into my work without having to double-check myself. It felt good to appreciate what I have learned so far and view my final website.
