My name is Paul Minett, and I'm currently a student in CS50A. At 42, returning to school for web development has been both challenging and rewarding. Wildlife has always fascinated me, particularly species that aren't well-known yet hold great ecological importance. The Giant Golden-Crowned Flying Fox immediately caught my attention due to its intriguing nature, unique behaviors, and its critical role in maintaining healthy ecosystems in the Philippines. This project allowed me to explore these fascinating aspects and share them through a visually appealing, informative website.
The most challenging aspect of completing this midterm project was developing a consistent, appealing color palette and applying it effectively across all pages using CSS. I chose a complementary color scheme from the color wheel to create harmony and visual interest. One surprising discovery was how significantly small adjustments in CSS, like managing background images and using specific selectors, could enhance the overall usability and aesthetics of a site. Overall, this experience has greatly enriched my skills in HTML and CSS and strengthened my appreciation for thoughtful web design.
