Labradors favorite activities include running chewing and playing. As retrievers they love games that involve throwing a stick or ball that they can catch and return. They are especially food motivated, ready to steal any food that comes their way, making them a potential hazard at picnics. They are obedient (hence their stellar reputation as service dogs) and very adept at learning tricks like "shake" or "lie down" if they are rewarded with treats. They have been known to be performing the learned trick without solicitation in hopes of a reward.
Labradors are able swimmers having been bred to assist hunters in retrieving game. They are not afraid of the water and are known to love swimming and jumping in the waves.
