Banana slugs usually live in coastal rainforests from southeast Alaska to central California. Banana slugs can only be found in North America.
Banana slugs live in dence moist forest floors because the slime and the moisture on them help them breathe, move, and survive. Some species of banana slugs are Ariolimax buttoni, Ariolimax californicus, Arilolimax columbianis, Ariolimax dolichophallus, and Ariolimax stramineus.
The Ariolimax buttoni can only be found in California. The Ariolimax californicus can only be found in California and Oregon. The Ariolimax columbianus can be found in western America and Canada (British Columbia). The Ariolimax dolichophallus can only be found in Coastal Central California. Lastly the Ariolimax stramineus can only be found in Santa Barbara.
