Behavior

Ball pythons arenocturnal or crepuscular, meaning they are active from twighlight to nighttime.

Instead of biting, ball pythons generally curl up into a ball for defense, making them easier for humans to handle and make then popular pets.

Reproductive Behavior

Female ball pythons lay large, leathery eggs once they reach sexual maturity at about 20-36 months old and 800-1,500 grams in weight. Males reach maturity at 11-18 months in age and 600-800 grams in weight.

They typically lay 3-11 eggs at once.

Once eggs hatch, the mother leaves, leaving the baby ball pythons to fend for themselves.
