Banana slug

Banana slugs are mollusks. Mollusks generally have soft bodies. The banana slug is in the gastropod section meaning they have a muscular foot to help them move. Banana slugs are hermaphroditic and both have female and male parts. Banana slugs still like to cross fertilize. Banana slugs also fertilize their own eggs.

Banana slugs usually look for food at night but they sometimes eat by day if it is humid enough. They eat decaying leaves, cascades, feces, and fruit. The hole on the side of a banana slug is for breathing with one lung. When banana slugs are getting eaten they release mucus to num the predator's tongue. Banana slugs communicate with pheromones which are chemical messengers.
