My family and I have 3 purebred Chow Chows. We have two black chows and one cream colored one. The one pictured above with my son is our oldest chow. His name is Gogi(pronounced: Go-ghee). To my son, Gogi is the all- knowing, omnipotent, ninja. He is 11 years oldest We obtained this magificent creature from an AKC certified breeder from Tracy, CA. Gogi loves squeaky toys, stuffed animals and pastries. My son often shares his treats with Gogi as long as there is no chocolate in it. He also enjoys hunting the rats that come over the fence from our neighbors yard.

The ancient breed evolved and manifests both morphological and physiological features,including its dark tongue, coat of fur, and stronger build. One Chinese legend mentions large war dogs from Central Asia that resembled black-tongued lions.One Chinese ruler was said to own 5,000 Chows.
