The lovebird is mostly green with a variety of colors in their upper depending on their species. They are known for their social and affectionalte nature.

How many types of lovebirds are there?

There are nine species of lovebirds and they are all native to the African continent.

  1. Rosy-faced lovebird or peach-faced lovebird
  2. Yellow-collared lovebird or masked lovebird
  3. Fischer's lovebird
  4. Lilian's lovebird or Nyasa lovebird
  5. Black-cheeked lovebird
  6. Grey-headed lovebird or Madagascar lovebird
  7. Black-winged lovebird or Abyssinian lovebird
  8. Red-headed lovebird or red-faced lovebird
  9. Black-collared lovebird or Swindern's lovebird
