I have 3 purebred chow chows. I have two black colored ones and one cream colored one. The Chow in the picture above with my son (Mateo) is the majestic, all knowing, omnipotent Gogi! (Pronounced:Go-ghee). He will be 11 years old this year; we got him from a responsible breeder in Tracy, CA. He loves squeaky toys, balls and pastries. He is on of my 7 year olds best friends and guardians. My son, Mateo, likes to share his cookies with him. He knows not to feed them chocolate though. Gogi is defiantely the alpha of the pack and protector of the house. He wouldn't hesitate to mess a person or unknown animal who jumps the fence or breaks in.
"The Chow Chow is a spitz-type of dog breed originally from Northern China.[2]
The Chow Chow is a sturdily built dog, square in profile, with a broad skull and small, triangular, erect ears with rounded tips.
The breed is known for a very dense double coat that is either smooth or rough. Chow Chow has been identified as a basal breed
that predates he emergence of the modern breeds in the 19th century. A research study has concluded that the Chow Chow dog breed
originated from other indigenous dogs in central China about 8,300 years ago. The ancient breed evolved and manifests both morphological
and physiological features, including its dark tongue, coat of fur, and stronger build. One Chinese legend mentions large war dogs from
Central Asia that resembled black-tongued lions. One Chinese ruler was said to own 5,000 Chows. The Chinese also used Chows to pull dog sleds through swampy terrain,
and this was remarked upon by Marco Polo."- Source: Wikipedia
This pretty cream colored girl is Mei-Ling, but we call her Ling-Ling or Lingels. She is our second oldest Chow shes 9.
She loves napping with you and cuddling. She loves running in the rain like a crazy lady until she looks like a drowned rat.
She's very protective of everyone especially Mateo. She's a sweet girl who loves all the attention, but if you jumpped over the fence she'd mess you up.
