About the Osprey

The osprey (Pandion haliaetus), also called the sea hawk, river hawk, and fish hawk, is a diurnal, fish-eating bird of prey. It is found on every continent except Antarctica and primarily feeds on fish, making it one of the most specialized raptors in the world.

Ospreys have a distinctive white underside, brown upperparts, and a black eye stripe that extends to their neck. They have specialized talons and spiny foot pads that allow them to grasp slippery fish with precision.
